Need a Weekend Project?

So as someone who loves fashion AND crafting, there are a few blogs that I read religiously and one of my absolute favs is ...love maegan. Not only does Maegan document many of her outfits throughout the week and give us a peek into her home (all while writing with a real woman's point-of-view), but she also writes a TON of crafting posts, aptly titled "Maeg It Yourself". You may remember this skirt that I made with Maegan's instruction.

I read this post yesterday (around 10pm), and had to refrain from running right out to pick up all of the supplies. I'm going on a mini vacation with my hubby today and as soon as we get home, I'll be tacking a crack at this DIY. Love it!

Here's a little hint as to what this Maeg It Yourself is all about.

Click here for the Maeg-it Yourself Jewel Embellished Shoe DIY (and try to ignore how skeletal Katie Holmes looks...we'll discuss later.) You won't be sorry you did!
(and I want to see pics of your finished products! I'll be sure to post mine soon)

Baby Got Back

Where in God's name has this been all my life?!?!? Ever since high school, I've been curvy. And I don't mean, Christina Hendricks-bombshell curvy. I mean, I've had a huge ass. It's something that I used to be relentlessly teased about, to the point where I hated my body. In the eleventh grade, some boys in my class nick-named my booty "Steve", and would always ask if Steve would be joining me at whatever party was planned for the weekend. Mortifying.
But as I've gotten older, I've embraced the curve and realized that it's all about knowing how to dress your bubble. But jeans have always given me anxiety. If I want them to fit my butt, then they always seem to gap at the waist. If I want them to fit my waist, then they're always unbearably tight in the upper thigh...what to do, what to do....

We all know that Levi's are a classic and no-fail brand of jeans. And now they're even better. The concept of this line of jeans is that "it's about shape, not size". You don't have to go up to a size that will sag off of your legs and waist just to fit you tush; brilliant!
When you visit the Levi's website, you can take a quick, four question quiz to help you determine what you're Curve ID is.

You'll be asked about how you define your lower half, you you would describe your butt and your thighs, and finally you'll be asked about the problems you face with regular jeans.

Turns out I'm a Bold Curve (sassy). The beauty of Levi's is that there are SEVEN different styles that I can choose from with my Bold Curve Booty. And they are the same styles available for the skinny little girls with no butts at all!

I feel like I'v died and gone to big-butt heaven. What's your curve ID?

The LWD- not just for brides anymore!

Working in bridal fashion, I'm surrounded by white dresses all day, every day. But sadly...that ship has sailed for me and I've had my turn wearing my big white gown. So imagine how happy I am over the growing LWD trend. Us old married ladies can wear white dresses again! Check out a few of my celebrity picks.

And a few on the wish list...

And a few on the Reality list...

All of these dresses make me want to pile on the pearls and dance around to 'Like A Virgin"....in private, of course

The Robin to your Batman

The Side Table, oh the Side Table. Often an after-thought and rarely the star of the show, this bit-part player is generally un-exciting and overlooked. Not today! The hubby and I have just finalized a new apartment...in the same building as our current apartment, so it's not that exciting. But it's got two bedrooms, a beautiful kitchen, and a gigantic balcony. It's also left me with a feeling that all of our current furniture is a little bit cheap young, so it's out with the old and in with the new and mature. And I've chosen to start with the all-mighty side table.

Why would you ever start building a room around a side table, you may ask....Well, I'll tell you. We're going to need a new couch, but I'm hesitant to buy something too flashy and graphic. So I'll get my fix with the side table and the couch will have to follow. The side table will be my Robin (bright red suit, great sense of humor) and the couch will be my Batman (dark, serious, simple suit and cape).  Makes total sense.

Mirrored objects work wonders to make a small space look bigger

I love that this is industrial- without being cold

Ahhh...I'm chomping at the bit to take some spray paint to this table!

So glamorously grown-up

Very 70's-kitch, like something your grandparents had in their game-room when they were young.

So lady-like. I need a Parisian apartment for this one!

This is such a cool mix of materials

This makes me want to have a cabin on a lake

Feel free to comment on which side table you love best!

What I Want Now! {Ease into Fall}

Yeah, yeah...I realize that it's 115 degrees out there today, but I can't help dreaming of crisp autumn mornings that don't require me to order my latte over ice. (I'm getting REALLY tired of iced coffee drinks, btw). Here are a few pieces that I'm dreaming of. Now I just have to find their budget-friendly twins...they're out there somewhere!

Very Adirondack-Chic

I want to wear these with something unexpected, like a structured flannel shirt

Imagine the jaws dropping when you walk into the cocktail party in this!

I will die without these....literally die. The true death.

Wear everyday with everything. Perfect

A classic staple, tried-and-true...and cashmere!

Christmas is coming....hope you're listening Thompy!!

Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Tie the Knot

Maybe it's that summer gets me into a nautical sense of mind (or maybe its just that I've been watching a lot of Royal Pains and am dreaming of a new life in the Hamptons...) but I've been loving knotty details on accessories these days. Check out a few of my chic-and cheap-favorite picks!

These make me want to be at a party on a yacht

Not technically a knot, but still pretty rad

A cute square-knot front closure

A dainty take on a heavy knot

Love these with a chambray shirt dress at a summer BBQ

Summer Snip Time!

Well peeps, it's that time again. I've been growing out my hair for over a year and I've gotten to the point where I'm just so BORED!!!!!!!!! I've got a cut on the books coming up next week and, much to my hubby's chagrin, I'm really thinking of making a major change.
I've had short hair before, and I love the individuality that I feel short hair conveys, but there is a part deep down inside of me that feels like I don't look quite as pretty when my hair is short....which is so crazy to think because there are so many gorgeous women out there with short hair!! Posh Spice, anyone??? Maybe it's because my face is a little bit round, but I'm not sure that short is the most flattering look on me. Plus, Thompy LOVES my long hair, and when you're going to be spending the rest of your life with someone, you make a few concessions to keep them happy.
I'm just so torn. I love the edginess, but I still want to be pretty.....tell me what to do! Just how short should I go?

Advice Please!!!

Orange you glad....

I love the color orange. It makes me feel bold and confident. It reminds me of summer. It's preppy and edgy at the same time. And....not too many people wear it, which makes me love it even more.  Like a juicy tangerine fresh of the branch (right? Tangerines are tree fruits...), these great pieces are just begging to be picked. And with their low prices, you'll be able to snag a few :-)

This orange and grey color combo is probably the closest I'll get to Hermes...
{Color block heel, $100, Aldo via InStyle}

I would wear this blazer/kimono hybrid with jorts and heels on a date with my hubby
{Linen Kimono, $50 on sale!, Zara}

OBSESSED!
{Timex Originals Camper, $50, Piperlime}

These are so dainty and lady-like.
{Tinley Road Coral Flower Stud Earrings, $20, Piperlime}

Lightweight enough for summer
{AEO Wavy Ikat Scarf, $19.50, American Eagle}

The relaxed fit of these chinos makes me want to wear them every day
{ASOS Pleat Pocket Chinos, about $52, Asos}

Love this color on tan toes!

Festival Fashion

I love music. Love, love, love. I love all types of music and nothing in life beats hearing music played live. So imagine how excited I am to be attending the Dave Matthews Band Caravan in Atlantic City next weekend!!!!! {Click here for the lineup, don't be jealous} Now, I just have to figure out what to wear....

Clearly (as I don't feel comfortable flailing about dancing in a dress) JORTS are a must for me. I'm there to party and get sweaty, not too sit like a lady somewhere with my ankles crossed, so I'm going to need some sweet cutoffs that aren't too short or too tight.

While I normally don't approve of visible pockets, this seems like the perfect time to channel B.Spears

I do love the cuff, though....

Or maybe white?

On top, I'm thinking of something that's not going to be too heavy or constricting. And it DEFINITELY needs to be hippie-inspired, maybe a little tribal, maybe a little Southern....

Channeling Kate Bosworth...and AMERICA

Love this, and it would look bad-ass under a motorcycle jacket on a Girls' Night Out

Coral Floral Ikat?!?!?!?!? Say that 5 times fast...
and I'm OBSESSED with the back

One of the necessities of festival fashion is the small cross-body bag. Obviously, you have to keep your arms free....for when you want to throw your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just don't care.

This bag is the perfect size to hold your phone, cash, and camera (and shades when the sun goes down)

Can't deny the fringe appeal.

So what will you be wearing at your summer concerts?
