Orange you glad....

I love the color orange. It makes me feel bold and confident. It reminds me of summer. It's preppy and edgy at the same time. And....not too many people wear it, which makes me love it even more.  Like a juicy tangerine fresh of the branch (right? Tangerines are tree fruits...), these great pieces are just begging to be picked. And with their low prices, you'll be able to snag a few :-)

Festival Fashion

I love music. Love, love, love. I love all types of music and nothing in life beats hearing music played live. So imagine how excited I am to be attending the Dave Matthews Band Caravan in Atlantic City next weekend!!!!! {Click here for the lineup, don't be jealous} Now, I just have to figure out what to wear....

Amber's Super Easy Wall Decor Project

Let's face it- every once in a while, we all get really bored with the way our houses or apartments are decorated.  In Amber's case, she hasn't been in her new apartment long enough to to be bored with the decor, but her parents were coming into town and she needed a fast way to liven up some bare walls. 

Enter two of my favorite stores....Target and Paper Source! Amber had an idea of what she wanted to put up on the walls (fancy framed paper), but she enlisted me to help her with the execution.  Got half an hour to spare? Then see below for the step-by-step! 

1) Amber picked out three frames at Target; two of these glass with black frames, and one that was a polished metal frame with matting. You can choose any size that will work in the space that you need to fill. We got our frames for $20 each.

2) Choose some fancy paper to be framed. You can use the same paper for all of your frames, or choose different pieces for each frame. Amber chose two coordinating pink pieces and a platinum piece for the center frame. We got each piece at Paper Source for a total of about $18.

3) Cut each piece to fit into the frames

4) And hang!

This project cost us less than $80 and totally filled the blank space above Amber's couch. Super-easy, super-fast, and super-versatile. When the holidays roll around, you can switch out the paper for something more festive!

Brilliant Boden

With summer upon us, its time for me to stock up on some warm-weather staples. Luckily, I keep getting Boden catalogues in the mail. A British company that started 20 years ago with just a handful of menswear pieces, Boden is now offering men's. women's and kid's clothing stateside. Fashionable Friends: Claire!

Goodness gracious, I can't believe that it's been 5 whole months since I've posted about my fierce, fashionable, friends. Well the wait is over, dear readers! This weekend, my glamazon girlfriend, Claire, showed up to work in this amazing ensemble. 

At first glance, this looks like a simple black skirt and white shirt....but if you take another look, you'll see that Claire is wearing an awesome scalloped leather skirt with pin-hole detail. Sweet!

Here's the rundown on Claire's outfit and some similar pieces for you to try!

The Shirt: Claire's white button down is a staple that she's had in her closet for quite some time. I love The Limited for a piece like this, as they always have different cuts for you to try; some more tailored and fitted and some more relaxed. Either way, you know that price will be great and you won't be getting a white button down that you can see your bra through!

The Shoes: Claire is a lucky girl and is gloriously tall. So she always looks statuesque, even in flats! Try a pair like this...at a price so nice!

The Skirt: Claire got her skirt from BCBG, and while the point of this blog is to be able to showcase fashionable finds at a low price- sometimes you just have to invest a little bit of cash on a great piece. But for this skirt, there are just no substitutions. I want the real thing! The best part about this skirt is that it ranks pretty low on the 'way-overpriced' scale. The more I think about it, it's actually a steal!

One thing that I really love about this outfit is it's simplicity and versatility. Throw on a ridiculously chunky turquoise necklace or black tights, pumps, and a bright scarf. Add a fur vest in the winter or a cropped denim jacket in the spring. Wear it with a shrunken sweatshirt for a chic casual date look, or a sequined tank for a Girl's Night Out....the possibilities are infinite! 

Yikes. Stripes!

One of my hands-down favorite trend right now is stripes. I've been wearing stripes on my clothes (and decorating with them in my home) for years. They are undeniably preppy, fresh, and just make you want to smile. From crisp men's suiting, to boatneck tees, to tote bags....there's nothing the mighty stripe can't do.

New Kids on the {Color} Block

Only over the past year have I really embraced color in my wardrobe. It used to always be black, white, grey, and jeans. But this spring's color blocking trend is one that I can totally get behind. No crazy prints to worry about mixing- all the hard work is done for you! The colors are so bright and cheery....they totally remind me of these crazy popsicles that my mom used to by for us in the summer time. Ah, memories. And while I certainly can't afford the Fendi sandals or the Louis Vuitton clutch, the Nine West satchel breaths a little bit of hope into my soul.
